Respect for the individual

At Walmart, we recognize the tremendous value of our associates and place great importance in managing your personal information in accordance with our core value of Respect for the Individual. As a Walmart associate, you are in a unique situation because you are also on some occasions our customer and the information Walmart collects about you falls into two categories: your customer information and your associate information.

When you shop in Walmart stores or make purchases through our websites or apps, you are acting as a customer of Walmart, and your personal information is protected by the commitments that we make in our Privacy Notice.

As a Walmart associate, you may be able to sign up for identity authentication through PIN, facial recognition, finger or palm print reading. If you choose to sign up for facial recognition, finger or palm reading, this technology will help us confirm your identity more quickly and efficiently and can prevent others from using your identity to connect to our systems or your device.

You authentication information can only be accessed by the following people:

  • Walmart associates who need to access your authentication information to carry out their work
  • Service providers who need to access your authentication information to perform services for Walmart
  • Anyone who's allowed to access your authentication information by law

Authentication through facial recognition, finger or palm reading is optional. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
The personal information about you that we collect, use and disclose in connection with your role as an associate is considered “associate information,” and is governed by the Associate Privacy Standard.
