We know that Canadians are shopping online more than ever. And, when they do, they’re enjoying picking up their orders themselves.
According to the 2021 RCC Leger Holiday Shopping Survey, 77% of Canadians surveyed plan to use curbside pickup the same amount or more than they did last year.
Over the past year, we’ve made more than 70,000 items available for customers to pick up in four hours or less. And in some Greater Toronto Area stores, pickup is now available in under 2 hours using Express Pickup, a new premium option.
For those looking to make their experience even faster and more seamless, we launched Mobile Check-In.

What is Mobile Check-In?
When customers are scheduling an order for pickup, more than a third of our customers are picking it up that same day using mobile check-in - and we’ve seen usage more than double since last year. Through investments we’ve made in our infrastructure, technology and experiences, we’re offering our customers the best of both worlds. They’re able to combine the ease of an online order with the speed of shopping in store.
When you place an order for scheduled pickup on the Walmart Canada App, you’ll receive an alert when your order is ready. On your way out the door, you can “check in” on the app to let us know you’re on the way.
Our proprietary software will tell our associates to prepare your order for pickup. Through technology, our team receives alerts as you get closer to the store. This means that when you arrive, your order is ready to go and usually loaded into your car in 5 minutes or less.
This contactless experience is fast, seamless and easy to use.
