Embracing the "Endless Aisle": Rapid Growth in Walmart Canada Marketplace's Grocery Offering

The millions of Canadians who visit Walmart.ca each month are now able to shop with more than 175 third-party grocery sellers through Walmart Canada Marketplace’s Grocery offering.

Customers can add more than 20,000 new grocery items to their online orders with confidence, expanding their options and providing access to niche and new sellers along with established favourites. From enhanced international offerings to new varieties of sparkling water, these new grocery offerings join more than 28 million items from over 4,000 sellers that are already available on Walmart Canada’s Marketplace.

Walmart Canada Marketplace Grocery’s expansion has been rapid, with seller onboarding more than doubling from January to June in 2021. Customers have responded with clear excitement: marketplace grocery orders are trending at 6x compared to 2020, with an increased average order size.

While fresh seafood from coast to coast is not yet part of the Marketplace Grocery offering, the assortment of third-party sellers includes companies like:

Plant X, the digital face of the plant-based community and a one-stop-shop for everything plant-based. With hundreds of unique assortments live on Walmart.ca in categories like Chips & Snacks, Natural & Organic and baking needs, our plant-based and plant-based-curious customers can find what they’re looking for.

Mr. Case was one of the first companies in the Canadian grocery industry to go online. Now, their online business is reaching a new group of Canadians through Walmart Canada Marketplace. Three Farmers Foods, based in Saskatchewan, produces the Canadian, sustainably-grown snacks you didn’t know you’d devour by the handful. Roasted chickpeas, peas and lentils in a variety of flavours from Three Farmers are now available on Walmart Canada Marketplace.

Yupik offers an assortment of bulk-format ingredients and snacks, including nuts, dried fruits, chocolates and cooking products. Based in Montreal, they combine years of experience in direct sourcing and manufacturing of high-quality products to provide customers with products that cater to their tastes.
