For most Canadians, the summer of 2021 has offered some rays of hope after nearly two challenging years.

We’ve been able to enjoy things that we all took for granted not long ago. To take our kids camping or even to the movies. To enjoy a meal at a restaurant. To see friends and family.

At Walmart, we’re proud of the role that we’ve played throughout the crisis. We were an essential service during the height of the pandemic and we became a critical player in the distribution of vaccines to help us turn the tide.

To date, Walmart Pharmacists have administered more than 375,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses across Canada.

We’re also making it even easier and more convenient to get vaccinated at our stores by now offering walk-in appointments at participating pharmacies (based on provincial eligibility requirements). If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you and your family to visit us to get your shot.

This Thursday, August 19th we’re hosting a “vax-a-thon” – a one-day blitz where our pharmacists will be at the front of our stores speaking with customers about vaccines.

We all have to remain vigilant and our commitment to associate and customer safety remains.

One positive sign is children going back to school in classrooms across the country.

We’re predicting this to be the busiest back-to-school season we’ve ever had. That’s why we’re offering more items than ever before and have made them available much sooner in our stores and online.

Of course, our extensive back-to-school offering is available both in-store and online.

We believe the online shopping trend – which exploded in Canada during the pandemic – will continue even as more regular routines creep back into our lives.

We’ve drastically accelerated our investments in our online business, which is continuing to grow. More stores, in more communities are now offering online pickup and delivery.

After a lot of change, it has never been quicker, simpler and more convenient to shop online at walmart.ca. You can learn more here.

We’ve also just wrapped up our annual fundraising campaign for the Canadian Red Cross. It is humbling to see the generosity of customers all over this country. This was our best campaign ever raising $5 million for disaster relief. Thank you.

Finally, I’ve been out and able to visit more stores and meet more associates across the country the past few months. I continue to be so impressed and energized by what I’m seeing. Our associates’ agility, focus and hard work is what Walmart is all about. As they have since day 1 of the pandemic, our associates are serving their communities and customers in true Walmart spirit.

Thank you for your support and trust.

Enjoy the rest of your summer.
