Oct. 8, 2026

To better serve its customers in Kingston, Ontario, a new Walmart Supercentre is expected to open in 2027. Walmart Canada will become the anchor tenant in the new SmartCentres development at Division St. & Highway 401, enhancing everyday convenience for the surrounding community.

The approximately 142,000 square-foot Kingston East Walmart Supercentre will feature:

  • A full grocery assortment of fresh produce, chicken, beef, pork and seafood, deli foods, baked goods, dairy products, frozen foods and dry grocery items
  • Walmart’s full general merchandise assortment, including fashion, home goods, electronics, health and wellness, seasonal items and more
  • A Walmart Pharmacy
  • Convenient pickup and delivery from store

“We’ve been a part of the Kingston community since 1994 and we’re excited to bring this new Supercentre – our second in the city,” said Shawn Fujiki, Senior Director, Real Estate, Walmart Canada. “This new Supercentre will help bring us even closer to more residents in Kingston, including the downtown and student population, to help them benefit from our everyday low prices.”

“SmartCentres is pleased to announce a new shopping centre development in Kingston, Ontario, which will be anchored by a Walmart Supercentre,” said SmartCentres. “We are proud to continue working with Walmart to support Canadians’ everyday shopping needs, creating local jobs and supporting long-term economic development."

The new store is part of Walmart Canada’s landmark $6.5 billion investment to expand its store and supply chain footprint across the country.

The Kingston East Walmart Supercentre marks the sixth new Supercentre planned for Ontario as part of this investment, so far.

The Lime Ridge Walmart Supercentre in Hamilton, Ontario will open this fall. Four additional Ontario Supercentres have already been announced in Brampton, Lindsay, London, and Ottawa. Walmart Canada is proud to operate 150 stores in Ontario and employs over 45,000 associates in the province.
