One team, one win: Vaughan Walmart Named Walmart Canada’s Store of the Year

April 24, 2026

Strong performance, a focus on customers, and a culture built on support and ownership is what sets Store 3174 in Vaughan, Ontario apart.

Those efforts have earned the team Walmart Canada’s 2025 Store of the Year.

When Vaughan Walmart Store Manager David Mann heard store 3174 announced at the company’s Year Beginning Meeting, the room erupted in applause. But for Mann, the moment wasn’t about standing on stage, it was about the team behind the win.

“Store 3174 is a great example of what’s possible when a team is fully aligned and focused on the customer,” said Derreck Cuschieri, Regional Vice President. “David and his associates have built a strong, consistent culture that shows up in how they operate every day. This is a well-deserved recognition for the entire team.”

“My first reaction was thinking about the team,” said Mann. “I was proud, of course, but more than anything, I felt excited for our associates because this recognition really belongs to them.”

Each year, one store is selected from more than 400 locations across the country for its outstanding performance, customer service, and overall results.

Sharing the win

Back in the store, Mann made sure the celebration was something everyone could be part of.

“We gathered the team and celebrated it as a group,” he said. “This isn’t something one person achieves; it reflects everyone’s effort day in and day out.”

The award now sits in a visible place in the store and is a reminder of what the team has accomplished together.

It starts with the people

Mann has been with Walmart Canada for 21 years and has led the Vaughan store for the past six. He credits the store’s success to the culture built by associates on the floor every day.

“It really comes down to the people,” he said. “Our associates support each other, take ownership, and consistently go above and beyond for our customers. That’s what makes the difference.”

For the team, the recognition is more than just a moment. It’s a validation of the work they do every day.

“They show up, take pride in what they do, and care about our customers and each other,” said Mann. “This recognition reflects that commitment.”

That mindset is part of the store’s day-to-day and is seen in how the team works together and delivers for customers.

For the team at Store 3174 in Vaughan, it’s a well-earned moment. Congratulations on an incredible year.
