As families prepare for the back-to-school season, Walmart Canada is proud to be a one-stop, affordable destination for everything students need to start the year off right—including their health and wellness essentials. Our Walmart pharmacies and vision centres can help ensure children are healthy, confident, and ready to learn.
From sniffles to scrapes—be ready for whatever school throws your way
Back-to-school season is the perfect time to take stock of your medicine cabinet. Whether it’s removing and replacing expired over-the-counter medications, buying EpiPens for home and school, or ensuring essentials like thermometers, bandages, hand sanitizer and fever reducers are on hand, the Walmart Pharmacy team is here to help.
“Parents often think about pencils and backpacks but forget that a well-stocked medicine cabinet is just as important,” says Chirayu Upadhyay, Pharmacist, St. Catharines West Walmart Pharmacy. “We recommend checking expiry dates on all medications, including allergy treatments and inhalers, and speaking with your pharmacist about what to keep on hand for common school-year illnesses.”
Walmart pharmacists are also available for one-on-one consultations to help families manage chronic conditions like asthma or diabetes, and to provide guidance on immunizations and prescription refills. Walmart’s pharmacy app lets families manage prescriptions digitally—view and refill scripts, view prescription status, and set medication reminders with free prescription delivery. This digital convenience, combined with expert care, helps families stay on top of their health needs with confidence and ease.
Eyes on success
Good vision is essential for academic success. That’s why Walmart Vision Centres offer comprehensive eye exams and a wide selection of stylish, affordable frames for kids of all ages, including two pairs of kids’ glasses from $98 (frames and single-vision lenses included) and free frame repairs and adjustments.
“Back-to-school is one of the most important times of year to get your child’s eyes checked,” says Piyush Gandhi, Vision Centre Manager, Brampton Northeast Walmart. “Undiagnosed vision problems may impact learning so a quick eye exam can make a world of difference.”
Walmart Vision Centres offer direct billing to many insurance providers, and our trained opticians are ready to help your child find frames they’ll love—whether they’re into fun colours, statement styles, or popular brands like JoJo Siwa, Hello Kitty, Ray-Ban and Skechers.
Wellness Day
A great opportunity to connect with our health and wellness team is at our upcoming Wellness Day on August 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time. Families can take advantage of free health screenings, expert advice, and helpful tips from our pharmacists and opticians to start the school year on a good note.
