In Canada, where dreams and opportunities are as limitless as the scenery, Ravish Passy took flight on a journey that would redefine determination and leadership for him.
Arriving in Toronto, Ontario, as an international student, Ravish faced many uncertainties and even considered going back home due to a lack of prospects. However, he saw an opportunity with Walmart Canada in British Columbia and took a leap of faith, moving across the country with his wife, in pursuit of the Canadian dream.
2014 marked the beginning of Ravish’s journey with Walmart Canada, where he started as a customer service manager in Fort St. John. His dedication and hard work soon led to a promotion to assistant store manager. However, in 2016, his life took a challenging turn when his newborn daughter fell seriously ill. With a 15-hour drive separating him from the BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, Ravish prepared to resign from his job to be with her. However, both his district manager and store manager stepped in, offering to transfer him to a store closer to the hospital. Within two days, he was transferred, allowing Ravish to support his family without sacrificing his career.
“The support from Walmart Canada’s leaders has been instrumental in my success,” said Ravish. “Their understanding and flexibility allowed me to be with my family when they needed me the most, and for that, I am forever grateful.”
The store where Ravish was relocated went on to win the 2017 Walmart Canada Store of the Year award, and, subsequently, the 2017 Walmart International Store of the Year award. His career continued to soar as he held various roles, including co-manager and temporary store manager. In 2021, he embraced a new challenge, joining Walmart Fleet and starting up the fleet team in British Columbia, Canada.
His contributions were recognized when his team won Transportation Region of the Year in 2020, 2021 and 2022. It’s no coincidence that where Ravish goes; excellence follows.
By June 2024, Ravish’s dedication and leadership were recognized once again, with a promotion to Senior Manager, Regional Fleet Operations, marking another milestone in his already impressive career.
“Today, I’m filled with gratitude,” said Ravish. “Every step of this journey has taught me the importance of community, and how to be an empathetic leader. Understanding that behind every successful venture, there are individuals with their own stories.”
Today, Ravish’s daughter, a happy and healthy eight-year-old, has been promoted to the role of big sister to her three-year old sister!
As for what’s next for Ravish? Only time will tell, but given his journey so far, it’s sure to be impressive.
