In celebration of our 30th anniversary in Canada, Walmart Canada is sponsoring the planting of 30,000 trees in rural areas across Canada, including several impacted by wildfires.
This project, facilitated by Tree Canada, reflects our commitment to becoming a regenerative company, one that works to restoring, renewing and replenishing in addition to conserving our planet. Walmart Canada’s contribution towards Tree Canada’s National Greening Program, which aims to reforest and restore degraded forests in areas identified as most in need.
“At Walmart Canada, we’re working to leave the world a better place than we found it – whether that’s through being there for Canadians when they need us the most or supporting the environment with future generations in mind.” said Gonzalo Gebara, president and CEO, Walmart Canada. “We’re proud to plant 30,000 trees across the country in honour of our 30th anniversary in Canada to help restore forests and provide a physical reminder of our regenerative journey.”
“Tree Canada is pleased to help Walmart Canada celebrate this important milestone by planting native trees in areas of need across Canada. As they grow, these 30,000 trees will provide multiple environmental benefits, from carbon sequestration and habitat restoration to cleaner air, water and soil.” said Gregory Hotte, National Director of Development, Tree Canada.
Trees will be planted in areas across Canada, including:
- Piikani Nation, Alberta
- Prince George, British Columbia
- Minto, New Brunswick
- Kingston, Ontario
- Bécancour, Quebec
- Areas impacted by wildfires
