We process your personal information based on your consent and in accordance with our privacy policies and procedures.


You have choices about the various ways we collect, use and share your personal information as set out below.

Request access, deletion or updates to personal information or withdraw consent to data processing

In order to access, delete or update/correct your personal information, please submit a written request through our Privacy Request form or by writing to Privacy Office, Wal-Mart Canada Corp., 1940 Argentia Road Mississauga, Ontario L5N 1P9.

 

NOTE: To ensure personal information is released only to authorized parties, Walmart is obligated to verify the identity of anyone to whom it releases personal information.

Update or correct personal Information contained in your Walmart.ca profile

You may update your online profile by logging into your My Account. For tips on how to manage your Walmart profile, please refer to Managing Profile.

 

You can also update your profile information by emailing Walmart’s Privacy Office at: CAPrivacy@walmart.com.

Deactivate your Walmart.ca account

Contact Customer Experience or email cacustrel@walmart.com or email Walmart’s Privacy Office at CAPrivacy@walmart.com.

 

NOTE:  Deactivation includes

  • Profile hidden from the website.
  • Ability to restore your account by contacting Customer Experience as long as your account is still in our system.

Delete your Walmart.ca account

Contact Customer Experience or email cacustrel@walmart.com or email Walmart’s Privacy Office at CAPrivacy@walmart.com.

 

NOTE: Deletion includes

  • Removal or anonymization of your personal information from your online account
  • Removal of your email address from our distribution lists

While your data is deleted or anonymized from our account database, we maintain some of your data to comply with legal requirements and for other legitimate business purposes.

Change preferences for non-essential cookies and similar tracking technologies

Web Browser

You may disable non-essential cookies and similar tracking technologies or change your preferences at any time by selecting “Manage Cookie Settings”, available at the bottom of the page. If permitted by your web browser, you can also use the browser settings to:

  • delete all cookies
  • block all cookies
  • allow all cookies
  • block ‘third-party’ cookies
  • clear all cookies when you close the browser
  • open a ‘private browsing’ / ‘incognito’ session, which allows you to browse the web without recording your browsing history or storing local data such as cookies (you should however be aware of the limitations of this feature in a privacy context) and
  • install add-ons and plugins that extend browser functionality.

The “Help” portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to prevent your computer from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to disable cookies altogether.

Opt-out of 3rd party tracking and/or Walmart sharing your data with 3rd parties for the purposes of interest-based advertising

You may disable non-essential cookies and similar tracking technologies by changing your preferences at any time by clicking “Manage Cookie Settings”, available at the bottom of the page.

 

Mobile App

To opt-out of third-party tracking, you may change your preferences within your device settings. Alternatively, shop with us on Walmart.ca through your browser if you would like to manage more preferences through the "Manage Cookie Settings", available at the bottom of the page.

 

Data collected in a Walmart Store

To opt out of your personal information being shared with third parties when collected at one of our stores you may contact the Privacy Office at CAPrivacy@walmart.com.

 

NOTE: Opting out of interest-based advertising will not prevent advertising from appearing online, but such advertising will not be targeted based on your activities and interests.

Opt out of Facebook custom audiences

Adjust your social advertising settings at https://www.facebook.com/ads/settings, use the opt-out features in the Facebook advertisement.

Opt out of Google analytics and targeted advertising

Go to www.google.com/settings/ad or through the Google opt-out browser add-on located at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

Opt out from receiving promotional communications from Walmart

To opt-out of marketing messages, follow the instructions in your email or SMS, or by changing the settings under “Communication Preferences” in the settings of your account if you are an accountholder.

 

Otherwise, feel free to request change to your communication preferences by contacting the Privacy Office at CAPrivacy@walmart.com. If you contact us by email or mail, please be sure to include your full name, the types of communications you would like to receive or not receive, and your contact information. For instance, if you would like to opt out of mail, include your mailing address. Please allow sufficient time for your preferences to be processed. It may take up to 10 days to process your requests related to email and SMS, and 4-6 weeks for other requests.

 

Please note that for push notifications in the App, you are able to manage your preferences within your device settings.

 

NOTE: Even if you opt out of marketing messages, we may still contact you when required or permitted by law such as to send you transaction-related communications or recall notices.  Also, if you opt out, we may retain your email address and/or SMS address, as applicable, to confirm that we do not send you further communications.

 

Opt out of sharing geolocation information

You may choose not to provide your location to us by customizing your mobile device settings to prevent sharing of location information. You may also prevent the sharing of device location information by disabling Bluetooth on your device, turning your device on to “airplane mode” or turning your device off.

 

NOTE: If you opt out or disable the geo-location function, some features of our websites may not function properly (i.e., if you reside in Quebec, you may need to manually select French as your language preference rather than French automatically displaying).
