Walmart Canada is kicking off the holiday season with affordable feasts and family favourites

Oct. 9, 2024

For many Canadian families, Thanksgiving marks the start of a busy holiday season that runs full tilt until December. As our customers start planning how to celebrate, they can count on Walmart Canada to help them serve a Thanksgiving feast at an easy-to-stomach price point.

Thanksgiving at a low prices

Sometimes preparing a festive holiday feast can feel more like a budget balancing act than a celebration. At Walmart, fighting inflation is in our DNA. And we’re continuing to deliver the every day low prices customers expect from us during these challenging times.

And this Thanksgiving, we want Canadians to know they can continue to count on us.

With turkey as the star of the show, we’re offering up this centre-of-the-plate protein at only $1.66 per pound. At this price point, a 10-pound turkey that could feed a family of 4-6 would cost under $20!  For those who prefer to celebrate with a different centre-of-the-plate protein, we’re proud to offer delicious beef, ham, and chicken options as well.

We have you covered for side dishes as well, with stuffing, cranberry sauce (both at $0.97 each!), veggies, potatoes, cranberry sauce and gravy all on offer at our every day low prices.

For that after-dinner sweet treat moment, Canadians can reach for some innovative new flavours, like Coca-Cola-flavoured Oreos, Ferrero boxed chocolates in new Almond and Cappuccino flavours, and a Lemon Shortbread pie from our Your Fresh Market line to complement other classic flavours like pumpkin, pecan and apple. All of our Your Fresh Market pies are available at $5.97 each!

Thanksgiving favourites from coast to coast to coast

Each family has their favourite holiday treats and traditions – and we see these preferences play out in our stores! (All figures October – December 2023)

  • Pumpkin pie is the pick of the patch for Thanksgiving. It's our top seller from coast-to-coast, except for our Quebec customers, who prefer pecan.
  • From October to December, we sell the most turkeys at our store in Thunder Bay, ON and the most hams from our store in Gander, Nfld.
  • Canada’s stuffing enthusiasts appear to live on the East Coast! We sell the most Stove Top Turkey Stuffing in Saint John, NB, and the most Stove Top Chicken Stuffing in Miramachi, NB.
  • Green beans reign supreme for customers shopping in our Scarborough, ON stores, while we sell the most russet potatoes in Victoria, B.C., and the most sweet potatoes in Barrhaven, ON.
  • The battle of the sauces is most intense between our Nova Scotia stores – where we sell the most cranberry sauce – and Ontario – specifically our Pembroke and Orilla stores, where customers buy the most gravy!
