Committed to communities: Walmart Canada reaches new giving milestone of $750 million raised and donated to charities and non-profits since coming to Canada in 1994

Mississauga – June 17, 2024 - Since 1994, Walmart Canada has been there for Canadians as more than just a retailer. Together with their associates, customers and suppliers, Walmart Canada has raised and donated more than $750 million to Canadian charities and non-profits, providing much-needed funds and resources, supporting their commitment to making a difference.

A legacy of community service


Walmart Canada is proud to celebrate 30 years serving customers with products, services and jobs, while strengthening and building resiliency in the communities where associates and customers and their families live, work and play.


For three decades, Walmart Canada has been there to support Canadians when they needed us most.

  • From disaster preparedness and emergency responses, to helping Canadians during ice storms, wildfires and a pandemic, totaling $70 million for the Canadian Red Cross since 2003.
  • Providing healthy meals for people in need through breakfast programs and donations to food banks through $67 million raised and donated to Breakfast Club of Canada since 2003 and contributing more than 107 million meals through its annual Fight Hunger. Spark Change campaign since 2017.
  • Improving children’s health through partnerships with children’s hospitals, raising and donating more than $215 million to Children’s Miracle Network since 1994.
  • Community grants to support local charities from coast-to-coast.
  • Educational scholarships for high school graduating students, supporting their academic pursuits.

Walmart associates and customers have consistently demonstrated their commitment to making a positive impact in local communities. Their generosity and dedication shine through every charity barbecue, national fundraising campaign, and other events to raise funds for local charities.

Since 1994, Walmart Canada has raised and donated funds to charities and community organizations across the country, impacting the lives of thousands of Canadians. It is a proud 30-year partner to Children’s Miracle Network and a long-time partner to many other worthy organizations.
