Giancarlo Copoccini can easily pinpoint the inspiration behind his 18-year career with Walmart Canada – his mother!
Mina Copoccini has been with the company for “43 wonderful years” as she proudly describes it and her son, Giancarlo aspires to achieve just as many years of service with Walmart.
Since the very beginning and before
Mina's journey with the company started even before it was officially Walmart. When Walmart purchased Woolco in 1994, Mina continued her role as Jewelry Department Manager and has been with the company ever since. She’s currently an Office Support Associate at Walmart store #3174 in Vaughan, Ontario and is one of the important associates we are recognizing as we celebrate our 30th anniversary in Canada this year.
“It was convenient for me due to my young family,” Mina said about her decision to pursue a career with Walmart. “As time went by, I grew with Walmart, and it became my second family.”
Early memories
Giancarlo’s earliest memories of his mom working at Walmart were “take your kid to work day” where he got to help her in the jewelry department. Fast forward a few years and growth spurts later and Giancarlo was following his mom’s footsteps.
Today, the duo has an impressive 61 years of combined service at Walmart Canada.
“I’m very proud of the man that he’s become and what he’s accomplished in his life,” said Mina. Giancarlo began his journey with Walmart during his high school years. He joined as a Photo Lab Technician to help pay for his schooling and soon discovered the immense growth opportunities that that a career with Walmart could offer.
Today, Giancarlo is the Store Manager of Walmart Canada store #1115 in Vaughan, Ontario, where he takes pride in his team of associates, always ensuring that they’re acknowledged for the extraordinary things that they do and motivating them to strive for their best.
To mom, with love
Giancarlo describes his mother, as a woman of remarkable patience and kindness. Something he aspires to be like every day. “She’s always put her children first, which I’m forever grateful for,” said Giancarlo.
