Walmart Canada’s Community Giving award recognizes a store that has positively impacted their community and includes their performance in fundraising campaigns. It’s an award coveted by store teams who are passionate about giving back to their local communities and to our national charity partners.
At Walmart Canada’s Year Beginning Meeting held in early March, our La Pocatière Walmart in Quebec was recognized as the 2023 Community Giving Store of the Year Award, outperforming more than 400 stores across the country.
The La Pocatière Walmart surpassed its fundraising goals for all four of our national charity partners – Children’s Miracle Network, Breakfast Club of Canada, Food Banks Canada and the Canadian Red Cross - this past year and used all their community grants to support two schools, a sports team, a nearby hospital and other local non-profits.
“Winning the 2023 Community Award is an honour and a source of pride and the result of the hard work of our store associates, the generosity of our local community and our corporate matches,” said La Pocatière Store Manager Eric Beaulieu.
“While this past year was more challenging considering the current economic climate, our associates and customers really stepped up. They have big hearts and they helped make our national campaigns so successful.”
“I’m so proud of our store’s charity committee who worked harder than ever before, organizing numerous fundraising activities from barbecues and dessert day to haircut and sales of surprise bags and treats to help exceed our campaign goals.”

Since 1994, Walmart Canada has raised and donated more than $750 million to Canadian charities and organizations in need.
