$4.7 million raised: Walmart Canada’s Spark a Miracle Campaign supporting Children’s Miracle Network continues to deliver for Canada’s children’s hospitals

Feb. 21, 2024

MISSISSAUGA – Feb. 21, 2024 – This year, Walmart Canada’s annual holiday Spark a Miracle fundraising campaign in support of Children’s Miracle Network raised $4.7 million for children’s health and to help fund local, critical treatments and healthcare services for the children’s hospitals across Canada which receive more than 3 million visits each year.

The stories of children like Elijah, Kshitij and Pacey demonstrate the significant advances that are being made in children’s healthcare through fundraising campaigns like Spark a Miracle.  Their journeys are remarkable, often overcoming significant obstacles related to illness or injury and persevering with the support of their families and the dedication of the hospitals where they are treated.

“Walmart Canada, its associates, and customers are among the strongest supporters of children’s hospitals in Canada,” said Adam Starkman, President & CEO, Canada’s Children’s Hospital Foundations. “Their generosity and ongoing commitment continue to have an incredible impact on children’s hospitals across the country, providing vital support where it’s needed most and helping Canada’s children to live the happiest and healthiest lives possible. On behalf of our entire children’s hospital network, we thank Walmart Canada for their ongoing leadership and support.”

Walmart Canada’s beloved and adorable Teddy* returned for the 2023 holiday season as part of the campaign. For every Walmart Teddy purchased between Nov. 1 and Dec. 31, Walmart Canada donated $2 to Children’s Miracle Network (up to a maximum donation of $200,000). Customers were also invited to support their local children’s hospital foundation by donating at checkout at Walmart Canada’s more than 400 stores or online at Walmart.ca.

“Walmart Canada is committed to strengthening the communities we serve through another phenomenal Spark a Miracle campaign in support of Children’s Miracle Network,” said Rob Nicol, Vice President, Communications and Corporate Affairs, Walmart Canada. “We’re so proud of our associates and overwhelmed by the generosity of our customers who continue to prioritize children’s health.”

Walmart Canada has been a proud supporter of Children’s Miracle Network since 1994. The retailer has contributed more than $215 million to date in support of 14 children’s hospitals across Canada, making Walmart the largest corporate, private sector contributor to children’s hospital foundations in Canada.

Together Walmart Canada and Children’s Miracle Network are raising awareness and making a difference in children’s health and the lives of kids across Canada, and they are grateful to everyone who contributed the 2023 Spark a Miracle campaign.
