It’s never too late to finish what you started

Oct. 12, 2023

Amy Guenette, a Personnel Manager at Store #3114 in Windsor, Ontario, had a welcome surprise when she went to check out the course catalogue for Live Better U Canada.

Having just been accepted to a Human Resources Management program, Amy was surprised to see the same program offered through LBU. The only difference? Tuition and books are paid for upfront by Walmart Canada. Amy was now able to enroll in the same courses through LBU.

“She was in tears telling me how much she saved with this program,” said Amy’s store manager, Kristin Sauve. “Amy was able to save over $6,000. For her and her daughter, this is life changing”.

Amy, a single mother to six-year-old Charlotte, had just decided to go back to school to finish the Human Resources Management program she paused when she found out she was pregnant six years ago. Throughout her 18-year career with Walmart Canada, Amy developed a passion for people and creating an environment where cultures are celebrated and individuals can thrive.

“As a single mother who is now both an employee and a student, it’s really nice to not have to worry about the financial aspect of my education,” said Amy. “Being able to start this program again with the support of Walmart Canada means that I’m proving to myself and my daughter that it’s never too late to finish what you started. I’m so grateful to Walmart Canada for the endless opportunities.”

Live Better U launched at Walmart Canada one month ago with the intention to support associates in making sure they’re trained and equipped with the skills of the future so they stay and grow with Walmart Canada. Already, there’s been more than 1,100 enrollments from associates across our stores, supply chain, and home office.

Save money, live better starts from the inside out at Walmart and we’re thrilled to be able to support our associate’s growth and development through this program.
