John Bayliss

Chief Operations Officer

In his current role, John leads Walmart Canada’s Operations, Supply Chain, Format and Real Estate development.


Prior to this role, John was Walmart Canada’s Chief Administration Officer, overseeing Technology, Format Development, Real Estate, Corporate Development and Strategy, Transformation Services and Data.


In his earlier role as Walmart Canada’s Executive Vice President, Chief Transformation Officer, he led the company's $3.5 billion investment to rejuvenate its store and supply chain network to enhance its omnichannel capabilities and expand capacity to serve Canadian customers into the future.


John joined Walmart Canada in 2015 as Senior Vice President of Logistics and Supply Chain leading Walmart Canada’s retail and e-commerce logistics and fleet network.


He was recently recognized as one of The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business’ 2023 Top Executives.


Before joining Walmart Canada, John worked for over 16 years with The Boston Consulting Group. Most recently, he was Partner and Managing Director of BCG Canada based out of Toronto. He led BCG’s Grocery Topic Sector in the Americas region and served as a core member of the Global Retail Leadership team. John served retail clients in Canada, the US, UK, Europe, and Australia.


John serves as the Vice Chair of the Food Banks Canada Board of Directors, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Luminato Arts Festival, Canada’s largest multi-disciplinary arts festival. He is also an advisor to the Centre for Building Sustainable Value at the Ivey Business School.


John holds an MBA from Harvard Business School as well as an HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, Western University. John has also completed Executive Education courses focused around design thinking, innovation, and artificial intelligence at MIT.
