Best New Product/ Product Line, Mass Merchandise and Club Channel award recognizes retailers for out-of-this-world innovation and creativity in the store brand market

Mississauga, ON – November 27, 2012 – Walmart Canada was recently selected by Private Label Store Brands magazine as the winner in the Best New Product/ Product Line, Mass Merchandise and Club Channel category for its Our Finest barbecue collection. The decision was based on the line’s extensiveness, its function as a total solution for outdoor gatherings that won’t have shoppers breaking the bank and the retailer’s dedication to expanding its Our Finest line of premium products.

“A lot went into making sure Walmart’s new premium tier brand Our Finest would be right for Walmart Canada and Walmart Canada’s customers,” said Sandra Farwell, vice president of brand management and private label at Walmart Canada. “Our Finest is distinct to Walmart Canada, built to reflect Canadian tastes, preferences and styles and what our Canadian customers want in premium, great tasting grocery products. Extensive work went into ensuring the brand and its offering are right: family favourites that, above all, offer great taste and unbelievable value.”

With nearly 50 products, all at $10 or less, the Our Finest barbecue collection offers Canadians everything they need to host a successful barbecue, from premium burgers and frankfurters, to side salads, to delectable ice cream desserts and essentials such as ketchup, extra virgin olive oil, barbecue sauces and buns.

The retailer officially launched the Our Finest brand in 2011 with a holiday collection featuring everything Canadians need to host a party or family dinner, including appetizers, sparkling beverages, main dishes, sides and desserts. Since the launch, the retailer has quickly expanded the Our Finest brand, which now includes more than 200 products, with more being introduced to the market with every season.
