LAVAL, QC, July 7, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - At a ribbon cutting ceremony, Walmart Canada celebrated the opening of its first store to carry a full complement of fresh groceries. Starting today, customers can pick up their fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, cheese and bakery items at the Sainte-Dorothée store. The Mascouche Walmart will offer customers a full fresh selection on July 8, followed by the Laval-East location on July 15. Walmart Canada is committed to being a grocery destination, and has already doubled the dry, frozen and refrigerated selection available at these three stores.
"Starting today, Walmart Québec customers can enjoy everyday low prices on a wide range of fresh groceries," said Chantal Glenisson, senior vice president of Walmart for Eastern Canada. "This is a significant new opportunity for us to help our customers save money by offering the products they need at everyday low prices."
"We are impressed with the high-quality of local suppliers and are delighted to bring their fresh products to our customers in Québec," said Les Mann, senior vice president of food and consumables for Walmart Canada. "Our customers will find locally-sourced food with the help of the Aliments du Québec logo when they visit our stores."
Including the stores being announced today, as of July 15th 2011, 143 of 327 Walmart Canada stores will offer a full complement of fresh groceries.
