In-Kind Donation (Recurring Non-Salable)

Space Donation


Financial support of $1,000 to execute a community project or activity.

Financial support exceeding $1,000 to execute a project or activity.

Financial support accompanied by a public display of Walmart brand / logo by the recipient.

Recurring in-kind donations of non-salable products refers to non-salable products like surplus food donated to food banks.

Donation of space at a Walmart facility to raise funds for local organizations or community outreach.

  • Submitting an online application or meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee funding.
  • There is no deadline to apply; applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Please allow up to 90 days for your application to be reviewed.
  • Walmart Canada does not award multi-year commitments.
  • Only successful applicants will be contacted.

We encourage funding requests that align with our areas of focus however all proposals that work toward strengthening Canadian communities will be considered.

Eligibility Criteria

Organizations must be:

  • A Canadian non-profit organization operating for purposes beneficial to Canadian communities.
  • A registered charity holding a current charitable registration number with the Canada Revenue Agency.
  • Government-owned or controlled schools, community centres, parks, libraries, shelters and hospitals.
  • A registered Canadian amateur athletic association with the Canada Revenue Agency.

Funding Exclusions:

  • Fundraising events (e.g. walks, tournaments, dinners, auctions, etc.).
  • Individuals or individual pursuits (e.g. personal appeals, registration fees, etc.).
  • Initiatives outside Canada.
  • Personal or group expeditions.
  • Contests or pageants.
  • Third-party organizations that raise funds for charities.
  • Conferences, trade shows, fairs.
  • Advertising, film or video projects, book publications.
  • Recreational groups and professional organizations serving only their members.
  • Bursaries or scholarships.
  • Political activities.
  • For-profit organizations or other corporations’ community initiatives.

How to Apply:

  1. Click “Apply Now” at the bottom of this page.
  2. You will be redirected to Walmart’s Global Donation Management page.
  3. Choose your region as Canada (English) or Canada (Français) depending on your location and preference.
  4. If you are a new applicant, follow the prompts to create an account.
  5. If you have a pre-existing account, login to your credentials.
  6. Once you are logged into your account, follow the prompts and questions specific to your grant application.

Selection Process

Selection Process and Award Conditions:

Organizations will be notified of any decision via email. All funding decisions are final.

For community giving grants, organizations are welcome to apply to multiple store locations. Management at the store to which you are applying will review the application and make initial funding recommendations on all submitted requests, but donation/sponsorship requests require approval from Home Office. If approved, cheques will be available for pick-up at the store location from which the funds were awarded. Please allow four to six weeks for delivery. Once an organization has received funding from a store location for this program, they are not eligible to reapply to that store location until the next fiscal year, starting February 1st. Applicants may, however, apply to a different store location.

For regional and national grants, and corporate sponsorships, Walmart Canada will review the application and make initial funding recommendations on all submitted requests. All grant recipient organizations must pass due diligence and enter into an agreement with Walmart Canada to receive funding. Once finalized, grant cheques will be mailed directly to the recipient organization’s address listed in the grant application. Please allow four to six weeks for delivery. All recipient organizations must complete a confirmation form verifying receipt of the donation/sponsorship. Once an organization has received funding through this program, they are not eligible to reapply until the next fiscal year, starting February 1 st.
