Our associates are our greatest strength.

We’re lucky to have an incredibly diverse, dedicated group of associates across Walmart Canada. Since the beginning of 2020 and throughout the pandemic, our committed associates showed up to serve communities when they were needed most.

Demand led to more than 20,000 new hires and an investment of an additional $125 million in associate support this year. Here are just a few of the stories representing the collective good of our workforce.

This is how we support associates… Walmart Canada hired more than 20,000 new associates across the country. Overall, more than 85,000 associates were given appreciations bonuses in 2020. Walmart Canada has invested $125 million more this year in associate support during the pandemic, including: • No-cost access to tele-health care professionals, including mental health support and counseling, through EQ Care. • We started with a March appreciation bonus ($200 for full-time and $100 for part-time). In December, all active associates received a new appreciation bonus. ($250 for full-time and $150 for part-time). Coaches and managers also received bonuses. • Support through any mandated quarantines and expanded sick leaves. • Thank you premium (extra $2 for every hourly associate on top of regular hourly rate through April and May). • Ten associate discount enhancement days (bringing the total discount on purchases to 20% discount). Our Associate Scholarship program awarded $146,000 in scholarships to 73 exceptional students across Canada. THANK YOU Our associates have stepped up and led throughout this pandemic.
