Health and Wellness Education Program

This program is comprised of a variety of eye disease and condition-specific support/education components directed at opticians and patients. Our aim is to reinforce Walmart Vision Centres' dedication to the professional development of our Opticians along with the ongoing eye health care educational support of our valued patients.

Community Outreach

Walmart strongly believes in giving back to the communities in which we operate and our Optical Division is no exception. Our Opticians are proud to be leaders in their profession for community events – “Making a Difference!” Walmart Vision Centres provide all of our Opticians with the opportunity to educate our customers outside of the store, within their own community settings.

Continuing Education Conferences

Any success we have can be attributed to one thing – our people. At Walmart, we provide continuing education for all of our Opticians. Annually, we offer our professional development continuing education weekend, a collaborative event partnering with our Pharmacy Professionals. This exciting weekend brings all our professional service providers together and provides you with the continuing education you deserve.

Career Opportunities

The sky’s the limit. As an Optician, the most common route to take is to advance to Vision Centre Manager, Professional Services District Manager and then Regional Manager. As a staff Optician, you will have the opportunity to apply to other positions in the Optical division such as Pharmacy & Optical Systems Manager, Optical Strategic Manager, Talent Sourcing Manager or Optical Buyer. Having said this, we have had Opticians move into the Information Systems Department, People Division, and some have even become District Managers for Walmart Stores. There are plenty of opportunities to explore and meet your career goals within Walmart.
