eCommerce

The world is changing rapidly and the way our customers live and shop is changing just as quickly. Walmart Canada is at the forefront of this change – improving, expanding and growing our services everyday to meet the changing needs of our customers. Our goal is simple – to make shopping easy and convenient for our customers without compromising on our everyday low prices and quality. This means investing in our eCommerce business to ensure Canadians can shop when they want, how they want, and where they want. Anytime.

Walmart.ca

Walmart Canada's flagship online store, Walmart.ca is visited by more than 600,000 customers daily. Customers can purchase a diverse selection of products including grocery items, electronics, and patio furniture on the site, from the comfort of their home or on the go. The site has won the Retail Council of Canada Excellence in eCommerce award for providing groundbreaking customer responsiveness.

Online Grocery Pickup

As part of our commitment to increasing access to Walmart's low prices and product offering, we continue to find new ways to help our customers live better. We know our customers are busy - busy parents, busy professionals and busy families. To help save Canadians time and money, Walmart Canada launched an online grocery pick up service at 11 Ottawa-area locations in 2015. The service expanded to 12 Greater Toronto Area stores in early 2016.

Walmart's Online Grocery Pickup offers shoppers the ability to select grocery items online at Walmart.ca and have them ready for pickup at their local participating Walmart store. Customers simply place their order from the comfort of their home or on the go and choose a pickup time and location that is convenient for them. They then pull into a dedicated online grocery pickup parking spot, call a dedicated phone line and their order is brought outside and loaded into their vehicle in minutes. The service costs $3 and prices online are the same as in-store. To learn more about Online Grocery PickUp at Walmart Canada, please click here

Convenient Shipping Options

Making sure our customers have access to the products they want, when they want them through convenient shipping options is an important part of Walmart Canada’s eCommerce business.

Walmart Canada’s Grab & Go Locker service allows customers to order goods online at Walmart.ca and ship for free to a Grab & Go locker. Once the item is placed in the locker the customer is sent an email with a 6-digit PIN code. Customers then have 7 days to retrieve their items from the locker. Walmart’s Grab & Go Lockers are currently offered in select GTA Walmart stores, Walmart Canada Home Office, and Kapuskasing, Ontario.

In 2015, a partnership between Walmart Canada and 7-Eleven Canada Inc. expanded the service to include lockers in select 7-Eleven stores in the Greater Toronto Area. The partnership with 7-Eleven stores allows Walmart.ca customers the ability to order online and pick up their order, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at a convenient location, at no cost.

Walmart Canada customers can also choose to have their products shipped to any Canada Post location to avoid missing the delivery truck, or straight to home – the choice is yours.

Logistics

Our Distribution Network – Logistics and Fleet

Walmart’s distribution centres are hubs of activity for our business – there are over 3,800 associates, working at 11 distribution sites, located in Calgary, Mississauga and Cornwall.

We ship thousands of products to stores across Canada daily; including, dry groceries, perishable groceries, general merchandise, along with other specialty categories. Every distribution center supports approximately 135 stores in a 500 kilometer weighted average distance.

We move these goods to and from distribution centers across Canada through our fleet of 180 tractors, 2,000 trailers and more than 250 drivers.

We think our team of drivers is the best in the world! Every year they drive over 24 million kilometres to make deliveries to our stores. Each driver averages over 84,000 kilometres annually – that's like driving around the world twice!
