Walmart Canada announces record price Rollbacks for back-to-school
Alert: Retailer to sell Hilroy 200-sheet paper for 9 cents this Saturday only
Mississauga, Ontario – August 12, 2011 – Walmart Canada is kicking off the back-to-school shopping season by announcing record price Rollbacks in the stationery category.
Back-to-school is second only to Christmas as the busiest shopping period of the year, and for parents and students it’s one of the most expensive time frames. The company will kick-off the season by selling Hilroy 200-sheet paper for 9 cents this Saturday only.* This is the best pricing on this product in the company’s history, and the 200-sheet paper is the most popular stationary item in Canada today.
“When shopping for back-to-school supplies, customers are looking for value, shopping with lists, and making very careful shopping decisions,” said Shelly Kiroff, vice president of homelines for Walmart Canada. “We’re committed to being the price leader. We’ve increased our back-to-school price Rollbacks in our stationery category because we want to show our customers if they’re looking for value, they can trust Walmart to offer the lowest prices.”
Walmart expects its price reductions will allow Canadian shoppers to save millions of dollars over the next two months. Earlier this year, the company announced it will implement a record number of price Rollbacks throughout 2011 to help meet the needs of the growing range of value-focused customers across Canada. The retailer confirmed it plans more than 100,000 individual price Rollbacks this year, crossing all major categories. Combined, these Rollbacks are expected to translate into customer savings of more than $55 million over the course of the year.
